Michele Lay, MBA

financial planner

- Jane Goodall, primatologist, anthropologist & activist

Michele helps her clients achieve their financial objectives with her comprehensive and integrative planning strategies. Each client receives guidance specific to his or her individual goals, time horizon, and tolerance for risk; there is no “one-size-fits-all” mentality that drives the recommendations she provides to her clients. In addition to crafting creative and intelligent portfolios, Michele works to secure results by concentrating on tax-efficient strategies to ensure clients are able to keep more of what they’ve earned.

In the early years of her career, Michele drew on her Political Science and Gender Studies degree from Tulane University to bring about change in her community. Experiencing firsthand the devastation that Hurricane Katrina wrought in her adopted city of New Orleans in 2005, Michele enthusiastically participated in rebuilding the neighborhood through volunteer work and assisting victims of domestic violence with an active position in the non-profit group, Women of the Storm. Following her graduation from Tulane in 2007 until 2012, she worked for GOP lobbyist Sandra Solin, the Host Committee for the 2008 Democratic National Convention, former U.S. Sen. Mark Udall, U.S. Sen. Michael Bennett, former Congressman John Salazar, former state Sen. Gail Schwartz, and as an aide to the Colorado General Assembly.

From 2012–2014, Michele returned to her non-profit roots and worked for Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains (PPRM). While at PPRM, she assisted clinic staff with education and outreach and was also the public affairs liaison to the Aurora community. Following budget and personnel cuts, Michele left PPRM to pursue a Master of Business Administration degree at the University of Colorado Denver; she graduated with her MBA in Finance in 2018.

In conjunction with receiving her graduate degree, Michele began working in the financial services sector in 2016, initially as a customer care representative at Janus–Henderson, moving into a position within the transfer agency at Oppenheimer Funds, shifting to a variable annuity internal wholesaler with Transamerica Capital, and most recently, as a financial advisor with Equitable Advisors.

Michele’s dedication to her clients comes from her time in service to the public and her desire to help as many people in their financial lives as possible. She loves working with individuals, families, and business owners to cultivate their financial understanding. As Katharine Graham, the first American female to be named CEO of a Fortune 500 company, said: “To love what you do and feel like it matters – how could anything be more fun?”
